Please visit us for a tour of
The Fairbanks House Museum
the oldest surviving timber frame house in North America is one of the finest examples of historic American architecture
50-minute tours are available by reservation on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May through October (online tour reservations become available in March)
Please note: Limited Accessibility
We want all visitors to enjoy their time at the Fairbanks House Museum. Visitors may enjoy the grounds and the historic herb garden which are accessible to all. A full 50-60 minute tour involves standing, walking and a few stairs. There are chairs in each area for visitors who prefer to be seated.
The Fairbanks House was built in 1637. As such, it has narrow, low doorways, and varying ceilings heights.
Tours take place on the first floor only. There are no stairs entering the house or the first two rooms of the tour. However, continuing on the tour there are four places where there are one or two stairs at entrance to rooms.
In keeping with its primitive charm the house is not climate controlled and there is no running water nor accessible rest room.
We encourage anyone with questions or concerns about accessibility to call the museum at 782.326.1170 ahead of visiting.
