The Fairbanks House Museum exists because of people like you.

Every tour, every special event, every restored artifact, every beautiful garden, every educational program, and every new initiative is made possible by volunteers who generously share their time, talents, and passion for preserving North America’s oldest surviving timber-framed house.

Whether you have a few hours a month or would like to become deeply involved, we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, interests, and experience levels. There is no "typical" volunteer at the Fairbanks House…just people who care about history, community, and making a meaningful difference.

Leadership Opportunities

As a volunteer-driven organization, we also welcome individuals interested in serving on committees, leading projects, or joining our Board of Directors.

Our committees are where much of the organization's planning, innovation, and strategic work takes place. Whether your background is in education, finance, nonprofit leadership, construction, preservation, technology, marketing, fundraising, law, or simply a willingness to help, your experience can make a meaningful contribution.
